The Vermont Hotel & Vermont Aparthotel, Newcastle upon Tyne - A Landmark of Refined Urbanity

Standing proudly in Newcastle's historic heart, The Vermont Hotel has long been the city's prime hotel spot. This impressive neo-classical building offers a near-perfect setting, overlooking the Tyne Bridge and the medieval Castle Keep, itself built on the foundations of the original Roman fort. The Vermont Hotel & Vermont Aparthotel has made it the classiest option on the Quayside, a place where supreme craftsmanship meets discerning taste.

Location

The Vermont's setting is truly exceptional, situated beside the formidable Castle Keep and within spitting distance of Robert Stephenson's High Level Bridge. It commands cracking views of the River Tyne and the iconic Tyne Bridge, with the city's vibrant Quayside-the hub of Newcastle's nightlife-just moments away. A five-minute walk will take you to the central station, or to Grey Street, famed for its theatres, bars, and restaurants. Personally, I find the proximity to the historical and the contemporary equally compelling.

Style and Character

The interior is a testament to supreme craftsmanship, where the scent of soft leather upholstery mingles with the visual elegance of bookmatched veneer running throughout. The main public areas feature mirrored pillars and tables, throne-like black velvet chairs, and silky-grey drapes in the lounge, creating an atmosphere of restrained, contemporary opulence. The hotel seamlessly merges its historic facade with stylish, modern interiors, offering a sense of sophisticated comfort.

Service and Facilities

Guests benefit from the convenience and attentive service of The Iconic Vermont Hotel, augmented by the privacy and independence offered by the Aparthotel. The hotel provides the latest wireless technology for a total communications network, ensuring connectivity wherever you are. The Ballroom is a versatile space, well-suited to any kind of event, while the lounge offers a tranquil retreat with superb views of the Castle. For those looking to make an evening of it, the contemporary restaurant and late bar provide a sophisticated setting for dinner followed by revelry with friends, complete with live DJs playing into the early hours.

Rooms

The Vermont offers a range of luxurious serviced apartments and elegantly appointed hotel rooms. All suites combine stunning city views with handcrafted fittings and modern facilities. Entry-level rooms afford guests the space to relax and experience the exceptional quality for which The Vermont has become renowned, featuring soft, relaxing colours, comfortable armchairs, personal bars, and dedicated work desks with high-speed Wi-Fi. The largest suite is particularly impressive, featuring a gentleman's lounge, an elegant bedroom with a king-size bed, a wood-finished entertainment unit, and two marble vanity suites. Bathrooms are appointed with bathrobes and complimentary toiletries.

Food and Drink

The Maven Restaurant offers an eclectic global menu, ensuring something for every palate, whether you fancy an afternoon tea, a curry, or traditional fish and chips. Evening menus present a thoughtful mix of brasserie standards-such as sautéed scallops and steaks with classic sauces-alongside more inventive dishes like halibut with fennel and saffron potatoes, or grilled octopus with red cabbage. Complementing the dining experience is an extensive bar menu featuring rare wines, classic cocktails, and local ales, perfect to commence, compliment, or conclude an evening of luxury. The late bar provides an area for those who wish to party amongst the ambience, with services designed to make your night a tailor-made success.

Value for Money

While specific pricing is not provided, the hotel's prime location, luxurious interiors, and comprehensive services suggest a high-value proposition, particularly for those seeking a sophisticated urban experience. The combination of hotel rooms and serviced apartments caters to diverse needs, from corporate clients to leisure visitors, making it an ideal base for exploring Newcastle and the wider North East region.

Accessibility

Specific details regarding accessibility features for guests with disabilities are not detailed in the provided information. However, the hotel's status as a prime, established establishment suggests attention to practical guest needs may be present.

Family-Friendly

The Vermont Aparthotel offers spacious serviced apartments, making them ideal for families seeking the privacy and convenience of their own space alongside hotel services. While specific children's amenities are not detailed, the range of dining options and the general comfort of the rooms would likely cater well to families visiting Newcastle.

“This hotel stands out for its blend of historical charm and modern luxury, particularly the spacious and well-appointed rooms. The rooftop bar, with its 360-degree views, offers an experience rarely found in city-center hotels. I think it's a solid choice for those seeking a memorable stay in Newcastle.”

the location was acceptable, close to the town centre and the train station.
I was on floor 9 and could hear the bass from the rooftop bar. It was like it was right next door. i contacted the receptionist, who confirmed the noise and said the hotel was fully booked, so i couldn't move rooms. i wasn't offered any discount due to the disturbance.
